100 Spanish Phrases

Let me tell you why it’s so difficult to understand and speak Spanish.

It’s not the grammar.
It’s not the vocabulary.
It’s this:

My boyfriend…

un guiri living in Madrid (foreigner, a bit lost)

He was waiting for me at the bar (poor thing)

I said: “Ahora voy.”

What I meant: “give me 20 minutes (to leave the house)”.

What he understood: “I am already on my way”.

20 minutes later:

“Where are you?”

Me (still): “Ahora voy (I am still at home).”

This is for people who are done “learning Spanish”…

…and ready to actually understand and speak it.

Not textbook Spanish.
Not perfect Spanish.

Real Spanish.

I understand Spanish… but real conversations feel different
will I ever understand what people actually mean?

People speak… and I get lost
why does Spanish sound so different in real life?

I know the words… but not the expressions
will I ever sound natural?

I feel like a robot when I speak
will I ever sound relaxed?

I translate everything in my head… but real Spanish doesn’t translate
will I ever just get it?

Everyone laughs… and I don’t know why
will I ever be part of the conversation?

I don’t just want to “know Spanish.”
I want to sound like I belong.

To understand jokes. To connect. To live in it.

Will I actually get there?

YES
The answer
is always
