Let me tell you why it’s so difficult
to understand and speak Spanish.
to understand and speak Spanish.
It’s not the grammar.
It’s not the vocabulary.
It’s this:
My boyfriend…
un guiri living in Madrid (foreigner, a bit lost)
He was waiting for me at the bar (poor thing)
I said: “Ahora voy.”
What I meant: “give me 20 minutes (to leave the house)”.
What he understood: “I am already on my way”.
20 minutes later:
“Where are you?”
Me (still): “Ahora voy (I am still at home).”
This is for people
who are done
“learning Spanish”…
...and ready to actually
understand
and speak it.
Not textbook Spanish.
Not perfect Spanish.
Real Spanish.
I understand Spanish…
but real conversations feel different
will I ever understand what people actually mean?
People speak… and I get lost
why does Spanish sound so different in real life?
I know the words…
but not the expressions
will I ever sound natural?
I feel like a robot when I speak
will I ever sound relaxed?
I translate everything in my head…
but real Spanish doesn’t translate
will I ever just get it?
Everyone laughs…
and I don’t know why
will I ever be part of the conversation?
I don’t just want to “know Spanish.”
I want to sound like I belong.
To understand jokes.
To connect.
To live in it.
Will I actually get there?
YES
The answer
is always
SÍ

LA CLASE
Book a free 1-on-1 class with me
Not a lesson. Not a test. Just an honest conversation.
We talk, in Spanish, in English, in whatever mix feels right.
I listen to how you speak, where you freeze, what you almost understand but not quite.
Then I tell you the truth: what’s actually blocking you, and the 2-3 things that will make the biggest difference for your specific situation.
Not a generic plan. Yours.
You leave with:
- Clarity on where you actually are (not where Duolingo thinks you are)
- The real reason why real conversations feel so different
- Specific things you can do this week — not “study more”
- The guide with 100 phrases that will make you laugh and sound like a local
- My booklet — the stuff I wish someone had told you from the start
- And if you like, you can join La TRibu, the community of guiris and native Spanish speakers in Madrid.
Nervous about speaking? Good.
That means you care. But this is not an exam.
I’m not going to ask you to conjugate anything.
I’ve had students who barely spoke for the first 10 minutes,
and by the end they didn’t want to hang up.
The only thing you need to bring is honesty about where you are. That’s it.
And yes — at the end I might mention what I offer, if I think it could help you.
But there’s zero pressure and zero commitment.
Honestly? Sometimes we’ll finish the call and realise this isn’t what you were looking for, or that you’re not the right fit for how I work. And that’s completely fine too. Better to know in 30 minutes than to waste months on the wrong thing.
This class exists because I genuinely enjoy these conversations, and because they help me understand what people like you actually need. So yes, we both get something out of it.

You’re not stuck because you’re bad at Spanish.
You’re stuck because no one taught you how to actually use it.
Hi, I’m Mónica. And after 11 years teaching Spanish…
I’ve seen the same mistakes again and again. The ones that make you understand the words…but not what people mean.
The ones that make you smile and nod…
but feel completely lost.
The ones that keep you “learning Spanish”… but never sounding like a local.
Spanish is weird at first
Confusing.
Illogical.
Full of things that don’t translate.
But that’s also what makes it fun.
And real.
This is not a course.
This is not a method.
Not an app.
This is an entry point
into Spanish as it’s actually used.
Messy.
Human.
Alive.
Is the class free? No. its 5 euros, a gift.
In what language is the class? In whatever mix works for you. Spanish, English, Spanglish — we figure it out as we go.
What happens after the class? Nothing, unless you want it to. You leave with your guide, your booklet, and your next steps. If I think I can help you further, I’ll mention it. No pressure.
Is this class online? Yes. After booking the class you will get an email with instruction to join Zoom session. No apps required.
